CS Chapter 2
by KiiAfter the end of the event, Lin Wenjing took the coat from He Xingran and unhurriedly put it on.
“Want to eat together?”
He Xingran didn’t react. The club members around them heard him and looked at the two of them even more strangely.
Lin Wenjing looked down and whispered, “Forget it,” then turned to leave.
He was still the same cold and indifferent Lin Wenjing, his back straight and looking very cool.
He Xingran didn’t know how he should react. Someone pushed him from behind, and he stumbled and bumped into Lin Wenjing.
Lin Wenjing supported him once again; his warm palms clasping his arms, and the thin calluses on his fingertips seemed to caressed them unintentionally.
He withdrew his hands, his eyes held a questioning look.
He Xingran cursed the person who pushed him in his heart. However, for some unknown reason, his heart was pounding incessantly. “Are…are we eating in the cafeteria?”
Lin Wenjing lightly smiled. “Mhm.”
He Xingran turned to look at his club members—they were all looking everywhere else but him and Lin Wenjing.
It was only after they walked away far enough that someone asked the club president quietly—
“President, why did you push Ran-ge?”
“You can’t tell?” The club president gave him a quick glance.
That person shook his head.
The president gave a “tsk” sound. “When have you seen Lin Wenjing give his coat to someone else?”
Everyone was enlightened, belatedly remembering the rumors they heard a long time ago.
It was unknown who started it, but Lin Wenjing, the genius from the Physics Department, thought that even the time spent in the lab wasn’t enough and decided to join the music club. However, it wasn’t because he was bored, nor because he was short of credits.
But to pursue someone.

At the cafeteria on the third floor, Lin Wenjing had just grabbed his meal and sat down when he saw Ye Heng following Gu Lin in from the corridor.
Adversaries were bound to cross paths.
Gu Lin also saw them. As if he didn’t know the matter between Ye Heng and He Xingran, and as if he was deliberately trying to make things difficult for them, he walked around to where they were sitting, stopped, and greeted Lin Wenjing.
“Wenjing—”
Lin Wenjing expressionlessly looked at him. “Young Master Gu has changed partners again.”
Gu Lin hugged Ye Heng and smiled. “Is the seat next to you guys taken?”
There weren’t a lot of people in this cafeteria, so there were a lot of empty seats. Gu Lin was obviously intending to make things difficult for them by asking this.
“Young Master Gu, it’s best to take your new lover and sit farther away.” Lin Wenjing coldly said, “I’m a hedgehog, it won’t be good if I pricked you.”
He Xingran raised his gaze to look at Ye Heng, his expression cold.
Ye Heng guiltily hid in Gu Lin’s arms, not daring to look at him.
Gu Lin patted him on the back, but spoke to Lin Wenjing, “It’s just a little hedgehog, don’t be scared.”
He Xingran frowned and stood up, then said to Lin Wenjing, “Let’s go, we’ll go somewhere else.”
Whether Gu Lin was targeting him or Lin Wenjing, he couldn’t be bothered to waste time arguing with such a person.
Lin Wenjing’s lips slightly moved, but he didn’t speak. He stood up and followed after him, so obedient that it was a far cry from the little hedgehog who spoke with sharp words just a moment ago.
Ye Heng softly called out “Lin-ge,” his tone was similar to when he softly called him “Ran-ge” when they were still together.
He Xingran froze in his steps.
Lin Wenjing’s heart ached. Out of nowhere, a surge of courage, mixed with impulse, swept over him—he held He Xingran’s hand.
“He Xingran.”
“Don’t look back,” he used a low voice to speak to him, almost pleading, “You’ll turn to stone if you look back.”
When they left the cafeteria, Lin Wenjing let go of He Xingran’s hand, then naturally put his hands in his pants pockets.
His actions were cool, but from the moment he held He Xingran’s hand and led him out, he was no longer cool.
But he had to hold on, pretend that he was still cool and aloof. He said, “I don’t want to eat anymore, I don’t have the appetite.”
Hen Xingran called out to him.
“Why would I turn to stone?”
Lin Wenjing was annoyed that he ruined what could be a good opportunity to spend time with him. His shoulder slumped slightly as he looked down, and he muttered, “There are stories, both in Chinese and foreign legends, about turning to stone if you look back. So, you can’t turn back, you can only look forward and keep moving ahead.”
