    “He Xingran.”

Lin Wenjing drank a sip of the sweet soup, suppressing the bitterness in his tone.

“…Do, do you still like Ye Heng?”

He Xingran looked at him, his gaze moved from his delicate face to his moistened lips.

    “I’m not that pathetic.”

Lin Wenjing looked at him, his usually indifferent gaze slowly melted, turning gentle.

“Then can I…” He slowly clenched the porcelain spoon in his hand. “Can I pursue you?”

It wasn’t the first time He Xingran had received a confession, but it was the first time someone earnestly asked him, “Can I pursue you.” It seemed as long as he answered “No,” Lin Wenjing would immediately stay away from him, no longer bothering him or trying to get his attention.

This question was asked a bit cutely, and a bit endearingly.

    Making it hard to reject.

He smiled and asked in return, “How are you going to pursue me?”

Lin Wenjing lowered his eyes. “I don’t know.”

“I heard you are hard to pursue.”

He Xingran still smiled. “You can try.”

    ☆☆☆

Lin Wenjing had never chased someone before, so he spent a whole night browsing the forum as a last-minute lesson. He posted a message in the forum asking for advice on how to chase someone he liked. The next morning, he knocked on He Xingran’s dorm room with breakfast in hand. He was so sleepy that he spoke with fatigue.

“The steamed dumplings and eight-treasure congee1 from the Third Cafeteria, eat it while they’re hot.”

Nine in the morning wasn’t considered very early.

Four people lived in He Xingran’s dorm, three of them were already awake. He Xingran had already washed and got dressed. One of his roommates was still lying on the bed playing on his phone, another had just woken up and was getting out of bed. When he saw Lin Wenjing, he seemed to doubt whether he had woken up.

The roommate lying down also sat up, leaned on the edge of the bed, looked outside in the direction of the sound, and rubbed his eyes.

    “Lin…sh*t, Lin Wenjing?”

Lin Wenjing bought breakfast for four people. He Xingran thought it was a bit heavy in his hand—the thought behind it was too heavy.

He wanted to say, “You didn’t have to,” but when he saw the dark circles under Lin Wenjing’s eyes, his tone softened.

“Would you like to come in and sit for a bit?”

Lin Wenjing shook his head. “I need to go to the study room.”

He Xingran held his wrist, then closed the door. “I also have to go to the study room, let’s go together after I finish eating breakfast.”

It was a statement, not giving Lin Wenjing any room to refuse.

He Xingran moved his chair to the side and told Lin Wenjing to sit. He then placed the other three breakfasts on his roommates’ desks and grabbed the chair of the roommate who was still sleeping while he was at it.

The other two people in the dorm who witnessed the whole process looked at each other, confused.

The roommate who got off the bed went to the balcony to wash his face. The roommate sitting and playing on his phone also got off the bed. He touched the disposable plastic container filled with congee, and it was still hot. He was instantly touched.

Friendship between boys was just this straightforward and simple—a hot breakfast in winter could definitely win people over.

“Lin-ge!” He walked over and said to Lin Wenjing while smiling, “You and Ran-ge are in a relationship?”

“No.” Lin Wenjing said, “I’m pursuing him, but I haven’t succeeded yet.”

His tone was serious and frank.

    But very cool.

So cool that He Xingran’s roommate was stunned for a moment, then smiled as he patted Lin Wenjing on the shoulder. “Lin-ge, you’re too awesome. The establishment of diplomatic relations between our Department of Computer Science and the Department of Physics depends on you and Ran-ge.”

He Xingran drank a mouthful of congee, his stomach and heart feeling warm, but his tone was cold.

“You don’t need to buy their shares from now on.”

This matter was obviously very interesting. His roommate started joking, “On behalf of our dorm room 619, I approve of this marriage.”

    He Xingran glanced at him.

The roommate chickened out, behaved himself, and went to the balcony to wash up.

    1. The steamed dumplings are called xiaolongbao in Chinese. They are filled with meat and a bit of soup inside. The congee is also known as laba congee. It’s a porridge containing red beans, lotus seed, longan, red dates, nuts, etc.
