LFB Chapter 5
by Kii“Hey, have you seen that post on the school’s forum?”
“That video?” The male classmate looked back, his gaze fell on Ning Gui who was sitting in the back row. “I didn’t even recognize that it was Ning Gui who danced in the finals that day.”
A guy beside them chimed in, “Fair skin, beautiful face, and long legs—I’d totally go for it.”
“This isn’t what I wanted to talk about.” He raised an eyebrow and said, “Do you guys think that if Jiang Xi found out, she would be so mad she’d cry?”
“That’s nothing,” the other person said. “If just seeing the video would make her cry, imagine how’d she react once she finds out Shang Zhao is chasing Ning Gui—wouldn’t she cry, make a scene, and threaten to hang herself?”
“Shang Zhao didn’t even like her anyway.” The guy beside him whispered, “I previously saw Shang Zhao reject her. Shang Zhao was pretty polite and direct, saying that he already had someone he liked, so he couldn’t return her feelings.”
“As for her, she pretended to be dumb and insisted that liking Shang Zhao was her own business—she wouldn’t give up.”
“Then she started to see everyone as a rival. Girls who were even slightly close to Shang Zhao, she would speak to them in a sarcastic way.”
Jiang Xi was a pretty girl, but her personality really wasn’t likeable. Aside from her few followers, most of the people kept their distance from her.
“Forget it…it’s not good to talk behind people’s back.” The guy that started the conversation thought it wasn’t a good idea to continue, so he ended it. “Let’s just listen to the lesson.”
The second class finished at twelve noon.
Everyone chatted and laughed while they packed up their stuff, discussing what to eat for lunch.
As soon as they left the lecture hall, they didn’t see Shang Zhao who had been waiting for Ning Gui after class, rather, they saw Jiang Xi.
Many people stopped walking and looked at Ning Gui in the lecture hall.
There was even someone who took out their phone to take pics.
It was rare to see a dramatic confrontation like this; if one doesn’t snap some pics and post it on the forum, they’re barely human.
But no one dared to watch the fun too blatantly. After all, with Jiang Xi’s temper, few people dared to confront her directly.
Probably because she just returned to school and was trying to block him, there was sweat on Jiang Xi’s forehead and her face was flushed, but it wasn’t known whether it was because of the anger or heat.
This lecture hall was at the far end of the fifth floor. Someone kindly returned to the classroom to let Ning Gui know that Jiang Xi was outside. Ning Gui sighed in his heart that his peaceful days passed too quickly. How could a week pass in a blink of an eye? Jiang Xi was discharged from the hospital and returned.
He deliberately came out a bit late. Most of the people in the room were already gone, while there were some people on the other side of the corridor, leaning on the railing and looking over from a distance. He swept his gaze over before retracting it.
Even though she looked haggard from the surgery, Jiang Xi was still the beautiful Jiang Xi. When she opened her mouth, she still had that stubborn temper and harsh tone.
“Ning Gui, you must be proud of yourself. You took my place while I was away and even made Xiao Zhi and the others record a video and post it on the forum as an apology to you.” Jiang Xi’s voice was a bit hoarse. She tried to straighten her back and raise her chin, refusing to show any sign of weakness.
“They recorded that video voluntarily, and they begged me to dance in the finals.” Ning Gui looked at her and said indifferently. “I have never been interested in your position.”
Jiang Xi said with an indifferent face, “I won’t argue with you about the finals since we ended up winning. However, let me make this clear—Shang Zhao is only interested in you on a whim, so don’t overestimate your importance.”
Ning Gui chuckled nonchalantly. “Right, he’s just attracted to my looks, a passing fancy.”
He slightly raised a brow. “Then what do you like about him? You like him for being lustful and superficial?”
Of course not.
Shang Zhao wasn’t such a person.
The Shang Zhao she liked was sincere and honest. He was a good person; someone who was worth liking.
Jiang Xi’s complexion was a bit pale. Her lips moved, and continued speaking as if to convince herself, “He didn’t come find you yesterday, right? And he didn’t come find you today either.”
“He doesn’t like you at all. He already has someone he likes…so there’s no way he would like you. He clearly said that he really liked that girl…” Jiang Xi stared at him intently, with a burning fire in her eyes. “If it can be you, why can’t it be me?”
“Because—” Ning Gui looked her up and down, “You aren’t as pretty as me in a skirt.”
