The glow of dawn filtered through the thick curtains.

Beep beep beep—the ear-splitting ring of the alarm pierced the room. It was seven in the morning.

Light stretched out an arm to switch off the alarm, preparing to get out of bed…

    “Woah.”

A pale hand reached out from under the covers, grabbing him and dragging him back under the covers.

Mu Chen clung onto him uncooperatively, half his face buried in his silver hair, and he muttered disapprovingly, “What time is it now?”

    Light cleared his throat, “Seven.”

“So early…” Mu Chen blearily opened his eyes, nuzzling the tip of his nose into the hollow of Light’s neck, “Why are you up so early?”

Light tried moving his arm, “I need to go to practice.”

Mu Chen gripped his arm even more tightly, “Didn’t we practice enough last night Gege? Maybe I need to reflect on my performance…”

The warm breath landed on his ear, causing Light’s back to go stiff. He turned around to cover the other person’s mouth, pulling his unruly hands away from his body little by little. “Didn’t you get up at five or six before? Why are you playing tricks now?”

Mu Chen buried his head in the crook of his neck, justifying himself, “It’s not the same, I’m still in my mating period.”

He didn’t feel ashamed at all by his own words.

Light sat up from the bed, looked at Mu Chen who was like a kid who wanted to stay in bed and not go to school, and he couldn’t help but laugh…

It had already been almost half a month since his mating period started; how could someone’s mating period last this long?

The bed made a slight rustling sound. Light didn’t say anything, he walked over to the closet and began to change his clothes.

Mu Chen turned over, lazily watching the man’s back as he changed clothes beside the bed. Light had beautiful muscle lines, broad shoulders and a narrow waist. Perhaps because he had been doing it with him recently, his skin was much paler compared to when he had just returned, so the red marks on his body were particularly apparent. From his shoulder blades down to the small of his back, his masterpiece was scattered all over, stirring up the imagination.

He supported his cheek with his hand, watching as Light put on a dress shirt and buttoned up the buttons one by one. Mu Chen pursed his lips. “Isn’t today the day you are getting engaged to me, Gege? Do you really have to get up so early on such an important day? That’s just too much…”

Light fastened the last button and turned around. “In another week, when your pheromones are completely stable, you will have to return to the army to serve. Will you still act shamelessly with your instructor then?”

Students of No. 1 Military Academy were required to serve for at least two years after graduation. As for what branch of the military they would serve in, it would be determined based on the student’s overall ranking and intentions.

Mu Chen sat up from the bed and shifted to the edge. He looked up at the other party. “My dispatch results haven’t arrived yet. Gege, where do you think I’ll be sent to?”

Light’s movement stopped, he half-closed his eyes as if thinking about something. After thinking for a while, he said, “I’m not sure.”

Mu Chen pushed his long hair back to reveal his smooth forehead. He went up to Light, his eyes fixed on his tightly wrapped boxer shorts and the black straps. His long lashes lowered slightly. “I think with my grades, they’ll let me join the Mecha Corps. When the time comes, Gege will be my immediate superior…”

As he spoke, he reached out his hand and pressed it against the other’s smooth and firm skin. “Isn’t that right, Sir?”

Light’s ears turned red, his breathing picking up. He grabbed Mu Chen’s hand and tried to maintain a serious tone, “Put on some clothes. Stop messing around.”

“I’m not. I’m helping you put on your clothes.” Mu Chen curved his eyes, raising the corner of his lips. As he spoke, he slid his hand into the gap beneath the black strap and pressed down firmly. “Isn’t it too tight, Gege? Let me loosen it for you.”

Light’s back was against the cold closet. The words he originally wanted to say were stuck in his throat and swallowed into his stomach.

The merman’s slightly cold breath came over him, like lighting a fire in the vast wilderness, kissing him so that his mind was distracted. The shirt he had just put on was wrinkled again. The other party’s palm slowly moved upward…

    And at this moment—

    Bzzt, bzzt, bzzt!

The terminal placed at the head of the bed vibrated.

Both of them stopped. After a moment of silence, Light reached out his hand and gently pushed Mu Chen away. He picked up the terminal that was ringing nonstop and started checking it.

Mu Chen pursed his slightly red lips, sat on the edge of the bed. With an unhappy expression, he pouted…

It was already bad enough to wake up so early, but the mood was ruined by some inexplicable message.

The moment Light opened the message, a noisy conversation was suddenly playing in the room. It was the sound of a video being played.

Before Mu Chen could hear what it was saying, the latter put it on mute. The atmosphere turned quiet again, but Mu Chen could obviously see from Light’s expression that the other party was slightly angry. His brows were furrowed, there was rage in the deep amber eyes, and his hands hanging at his sides were clenched into fists.

    Mu Chen looked over

    In the video—

Kyle was being interviewed by the media. Judging from the background, he should be in a meeting room in the palace. “I have to say that what happened that day was really shocking. He usually doesn’t seem like that type of person.”

A reporter beside him asked, “Your Highness, do you mind describing in detail what exactly happened that evening?”

“Of course I don’t mind, it’s no problem at all.” Kyle assumed a phony look and began to “painfully” recall what happened. “It was around eleven o’clock in the evening, almost midnight. I bumped into him in the corridor on my way back to my room. He was holding a bottle of wine and was asking if I wanted to have a few drinks with him. This surprised me, because I haven’t had much contact with him before, but I agreed because I thought it was impolite to refuse. After entering his room, I realized things were gradually going wrong. He began to intentionally or unintentionally…um, hint at something to me…”

The reporter took the opportunity to ask, “Your Highness Kyle, what kind of hint is it?”

Kyle rubbed the space between his brows, seeming as if he was finding it hard to say. “Just…asking if we could have that kind of relationship, you know. Of course, I rejected him decisively, so he got angry and started beating me, and even smashed a bottle. You guys can see the scars on my face.”

He pointed at his nose, which was still bruised and said, “It’s been so many days, and yet this still hasn’t healed yet.”

Kyle’s live broadcast triggered an unprecedented heated discussion. The overwhelming bullet comments were practically covering the entire screen.

    [Help, this isn’t true, right?]

[Is all the news about the royal family so explosive?]

[Isn’t that outrageous? But as a duke, would Mu Chen really dare to hit a prince? Is the royal family not gonna do anything about this? Why do I feel that his words are off?]

[Prince Kyle is talking about the guy who had an affair with Vincent last time. Why are there so many negative news about him? I guess there must be a hidden reason why the eldest prince cancelled the engagement with him.]

[Is there evidence? I’m so stupefied right now.]

The reporter continued to ask, “Your Highness, is there someone who can prove your words?”

“There is.” Kyle nodded, then turned to the attendant standing in the corner. The latter lowered his head, crossed his fingers nervously in front of his chest, looking a bit nervous.

But Mu Chen was still able to recognize it from the brief flashes of images that had appeared…

    It was Dolly.

Light was immersed in his anger. When he snapped out of it, he just saw a figure flash by. The moment he looked up, Mu Chen had already changed into his clothes and quickly walked out of the room.

    “Where are you going?”

He tried to stop Mu Chen so that he wouldn’t be so impulsive. After all, if Mu Chen broke into the live broadcast and hit Kyle right now, it would only cause more negative public opinion.

“I’m going to go take care of this matter, Gege.”

Mu Chen looked back at Light and answered him, then left quickly without looking back.

Light furrowed his brows. He reached out his hand and wanted to stop him, but he walked really fast, as if he had motors installed on his feet. He couldn’t grab Mu Chen’s arm even when he chased him to the doorway. At the moment, Light was only wearing a wrinkled dress shirt, and even the collar was crooked.

He suddenly clenched his fist, then rushed back to change his clothes.
