“Cutie…” Light paused as he took a glance at the creature in his arms.

He then raised his eyes, meeting Mu Chen’s hopeful blue ones, as if trying to say, “Look! I thought of the name myself! Isn’t it cool?”

Light kept silent, until his thin lips finally made a motion.

    “That doesn’t sound bad.”

    [‘Doesn’t sound bad’]

[Cutie hahahahaha what kind of name is that]

[Did you guys notice how the little thing reacted?]

[The little dog: Arf! Have you ever thought about my opinion?!]

[Little Chen sure has a knack for names. “Sharky” and “Cutie” hahahahaha]

[Good thing our little Chen didn’t name himself. Imagine what his name would be if that happened]

[Just a random guess: little fish]

[Hahahahaha help, that actually made sense to me]

Mu Chen spent the entire afternoon playing with the wolfhound in the live broadcast, specifically, training the wolfhound how to fetch frisbees so he’d have more fun playing.

Light sat nearby reading through virtual files. He’d be able to stay in the capital as long as nothing notable would happen for the following three months.

When he began overseeing official business, he was highly immersed in it that his surroundings fell silent. But every now and then, his amber eyes would rise up from the virtual light screen and stay on the rippling lake surface for a time, where the sound of Mu Chen and the sea beast playing around could be heard.

One week ago, Light flew back to cancel his engagement.

Right now, a little merman was prancing around the palace.

    Everything felt just so strange.

The glistening water surface exuded a calming charm, as did the little creature in the water, who would frequently smile at him.

Light’s tightly pursed lips relax as he goes on to glance over his materials.

At sunset, he had finally accomplished all his official tasks. Mu Chen and his pet also finally got tired from playing around.

The little merman had just ended the live stream. Cutie on the other hand, tensed all of a sudden.

    “ Arf! Arf! Arf!”

It then rushed up to the shoreline like an arrow, shaking off all of its water droplets, and squatted at the palace gate, barking.

The door creaked open a moment later, and the attendant guard greeted respectfully, “Your Highness Lance.”

    “Brother!”

With his stunning golden hair and his radiant smile, Lance made it difficult to avoid drawing attention to himself.

He viewed the enormous indoor lake with an approving gaze as soon as he entered and joked, “Tsk tsk tsk… What treasure are you hiding here?”

    “Arf! Arf!”

The hound began to bark frantically at the smell of an unfamiliar scent.

“Hi, little dog, how are you?”

Lance extended his hand, hoping to have a friendly interaction with it.

    “Arf!”

The creature definitely had a different thought. It decided to bite Lance’s pants instead.

“Heyheyhey….my pants! I just got this, let go! Can you let go for me….Someone help me deal with this!”

Mu Chen laughed at the arguing wolfhound and Lance. His laugh lasted for a while before he waved his hand and commanded, “Cutie, come here.”

The wolfhound immediately stopped and walked over at Mu Chen’s command.

“Phew…” Lance let out a sigh of relief. He lowered his head and smooth out his clothes, then raised a hand to push aside the scattered hair on his forehead, then regained his usual carefree smile.

When Light stood side by side with him, it could be seen at a glance that they were blood–related brothers.

It was just that their temperament was different.

Light’s lips were very thin, and his deep eyes always contained an indifferent cold aura. He was handsome and dazzling, yet was like the blazing sun at its peak—getting too close could even burn you.

Lance’s upturned eyes on the other hand, carried a bit of frivolousness. He exuded a languid and careless attitude from head to toe. He was the kind that could make a maid blush from just standing there and talking to her.

“Didn’t just a few days ago…eh?” Lance gave a quick glance at the little merman leaning on the edge of the pool. He raise an eyebrow and imitated Light’s tone in an exaggerated manner, his whole face becoming stern—

“Don’t make trouble, I’m here to cancel the engagement.”

After speaking, Lance touched Light’s arm jokingly. “What’s going on? You even finished building the pool overnight, huh?”

Light seemed to be immune to his teasing. The two of them developed a “you say your thing and I’ll say mine” way of getting along.

He brought Lance in front of the pool, introduced in a serious manner, “This is my little brother, Lance. You’ll most likely see him often in the palace.”

    “Your Highness Lance.”

    Mu Chen politely greeted him.

He was born with a pair of unturned lips, and unless he deliberately put on a cold expression, he always had a charming appearance.

Lance took a deep breath in feign surprise, saying to Light, “I should go stroll around the ruins of Atlantis now. If I’m lucky enough, I should be able to meet a merfolk tomorrow.

Light pursed his lips. “I’ll take you there.”

Facing his older brother’s teasing, Lance laughed, and then took out a bunch of baby’s breath from behind him like magic. He bent down and handed it to the little merman. “This is for you. It’s the same blue as your eyes.”

“But your eyes look…a bit bluer compared to what’s seen on the broadcast.”

“Thank you, Your Highness.” Mu Chen took the flowers, and Cutie immediately went over to sniff it in curiosity.

“Speaking truthfully, it’s good that you agreed to this marriage.” Lance patted Light’s shoulder and leaned back on the soft chair with his long legs crossed. “You haven’t seen Kyle’s recent scowling face; it’s as dark as if he went down to the mine.”

He crossed his fingers in front of his chest, not even trying to hide the gloating smile on his face.

After being appointed Crown Prince, Light was either at war or handling military affairs outside. On the rare occasion when he was called back to attend a banquet, he kept a cold expression on his face, looking extremely impatient. It was like he would turn into Cinderella at midnight, except Light wasn’t in a rush to ride a pumpkin carriage home, but rather to rush off to some bomb-defusing mission.

Those who admired him greatly were all scared off by him.

Light himself never took these things seriously, as if he didn’t care one bit about the son born to Katherine and the King.

But sewer rats were expert at disgusting people.

Sometimes Lance was really worried that Light would never come to his senses, and that his relationship with the king would only become even more strained…

That was until he saw this little merman today.

Lance couldn’t help but lament—some people’s feelings were really like a “blooming iron tree,” but of course this doesn’t mean that Light had a epiphany.

(TN: An idiom for an extremely rare occurrence.)

Some people don’t get into a relationship, preferring to be alone. Then one day, a stunning beauty falls from the sky, and others tell them, “This is your destined lover.”

Hearing Lance’s words, Light didn’t have much reaction. He only lowered his eyes, his gaze falling on the little merman who was fiddling with the baby’s breath. “Mu Chen is like a little brother to me.”

“Uh-huh.” Lance smiled and let out a “heh” sound. “I’m also your little brother, why don’t I see you building a palace for me? You wouldn’t even let me copy your homework when we were younger.”

He had long expected Light would have such a reaction, but things like affection could be slowly nurtured as one grows older, and it would be easy once the engagement was set.

While talking, Lance noticed the little merman constantly sneaking glances at them.

“Speaking of which…” He changed the topic, “shouldn’t the little merman have a court teacher?”

Mu Chen, who was rubbing Cutie’s fur, stopped his movements.

The fear of starting school was apparently common to all species on the Blue Planet.

A sly glint flashed through Lance’s eyes. “I’m pretty sure they’re going to bring in old man Blake.”

Mu Chen asked, “What’s wrong with him?”

Yet his eyes unconsciously looked in Light’s direction.

“Well, he…” Lance fingertips taped on the back of the chair. “You definitely won’t like him.”

After saying that, he coughed, then used an old-fashioned tone to imitate Blake—

“Lance, do you need me to hand you a cane?”

“Sir, don’t make me remind you a second time, straighten your back! Your back looks like an eighty-year-old man!”

After completing the pressure shift, Lance cheerfully stood up from his seat and smiled at Mu Chen.

“Of course, don’t worry too much, little merman. If you think taking classes is too boring, I’ll take you out to play. The palace is the most boring place in the entire capital.

Under Light’s “affectionate” gaze, Lance walked over to the palace hall’s entrance, and his smile grew increasingly wider.

    “Don’t worry, I won’t lead him astray.”

    ……

Under the ambiguous warm orange light.

Kyle raised his eyes to look at the slender black-haired beauty in front of him, feeling a bit better.

Shelley Issos’ long hair was like a waterfall. She gently swayed the red wine in her hand, raising the corner of her eyes nonchalantly—her peach blossom eyes seemed like they could seduce people.

The corners of Kyle’s mouth involuntarily raised, and he shoved a piece of steak in his mouth.

She was looking over at him again…

    Does she like me?

But as the daughter of a royal minister, Shelley Issos’ status was indeed barely worthy of him.

Kyle wiped his mouth with a napkin, raised the corner of his lips, and chuckled. “Miss Shelley, the roses in the palace are in bloom. Would you like to have afternoon tea with me tomorrow?”

As to whether Shelley was qualified to be his engagement partner, it depended on her follow-up performance.

“I have long heard that the palace’s gardens are very beautiful, and now that Your Highness has invited me, it couldn’t be better.”

Shelley held her chin. A glint flashed in her originally languid cat-like eyes.

Kyle lightly snorted in his heart. Agreeing so quickly, sure enough, she is interested in me.

“Actually…” Shelley’s red lips opened slightly, a hint of shyness suddenly flashed in her eyes, which had always been frivolous and casual. “I have always…”

Kyle stopped his movement of cutting the steak, his gaze had already been completely attracted to her.

It was a bit undignified to confess to him now, but she was really pretty.

“Wanted to see that little merman.”

    Shelley clasped her hands together.

    Kyle, “???”

    What…?

    “What did you say?”

At the mention of the merman, Shelley’s expression became a lot lively. “I watched every live broadcast of the royal family. Mu Chen is really cute, and I also like your older brother. Prince Light treats the little merman really gently. This mommy…”

“Ah, no…” Shelley realized that she almost spoke wrong and covered her red lips with her hand. “I meant…”

“Third Prince, you must have a way for me to be able to meet the little merman, right?”

She had been enduring this date for a long time. If she hadn’t wanted to find a way to meet the little merman, she wouldn’t have agreed to her father’s blind date.

She should be watching some hunky men pole-dancing performance with her girlfriends right now, not listening to this boring man chatting away all night.

But for the little merman… Shelley told herself repeatedly…

    Everything is worth it!

At this moment, Kyle’ expression had turned completely rigid and the corner of his mouth twitched.

What’s so great about a useless merman?

    F*cking stupid.

But his self-esteem as a man wouldn’t allow him to say “no.”

Kyle stiffly smiled. “Meeting that merman is easy.”

“Waaa~” Shelley bent his eyes. “That’s great!”

    She made a photo-taking gesture.

“Oh right, and if it’s possible…”

“Can your older brother make an appearance on camera too?”
