THDK Chapter 24

I couldnβt determine which history was true. Only Oreole knew.
βIβm convinced that a time will come when demons and humans can live together without fighting.β
Noxβs face drew close, his breath intertwining with mine. His lips almost touched mine, and I felt his fingers caress my cheek. As I closed my eyes, he gave me a gentle kiss.
βSol, I believe in you.β
βNoxβ¦β
What did Nox want from me? What could I do?
βTell me. What can I do for you?β
βFor now, just stay by my side.β
Our lips touched again. Iβll be here for you, Nox. As long as you want me to. But sometimes, I feel like the day will come when weβll have to part ways.
I got up, left the room, and returned to my own. On the way, I stopped in front of the courtyard, where roses bloomed. Thatβs where I first confessed my feelings to Nox. Back then, I thought that if I grew up, I could stand beside him as an equal. But maybe that was just a misunderstanding.
I let out a deep sigh and traced my lips with my finger.
βWhat are you doing?β
βGood morning, Alan.β
I lowered my hand as Alan approached me from across the courtyard. He still didnβt smile in front of me. He was dressed the same as yesterday, so he might have just returned.
βYouβre walking in the courtyard early in the morning. Does that mean you were in the demon kingβs room?β
βI couldnβt sleep last night, so I visited Noxβs room.β
Alanβs brow furrowed as I replied with a smile. I knew he didnβt approve of my close relationship with Nox.
βStop it.β
βWhat?β
I tilted my head, sensing a tinge of pity in Alanβs orange eyes. His usual stern expression had turned melancholic. I took a step closer, wanting to know why he looked at me that way.
βStop loving the demon king.β
βThatβs impossible.β
Why would he say that?
