THDK Chapter 24

I couldn’t determine which history was true. Only Oreole knew.
“I’m convinced that a time will come when demons and humans can live together without fighting.”
Nox’s face drew close, his breath intertwining with mine. His lips almost touched mine, and I felt his fingers caress my cheek. As I closed my eyes, he gave me a gentle kiss.
“Sol, I believe in you.”
“Nox…”
What did Nox want from me? What could I do?
“Tell me. What can I do for you?”
“For now, just stay by my side.”
Our lips touched again. I’ll be here for you, Nox. As long as you want me to. But sometimes, I feel like the day will come when we’ll have to part ways.
I got up, left the room, and returned to my own. On the way, I stopped in front of the courtyard, where roses bloomed. That’s where I first confessed my feelings to Nox. Back then, I thought that if I grew up, I could stand beside him as an equal. But maybe that was just a misunderstanding.
I let out a deep sigh and traced my lips with my finger.
“What are you doing?”
“Good morning, Alan.”
I lowered my hand as Alan approached me from across the courtyard. He still didn’t smile in front of me. He was dressed the same as yesterday, so he might have just returned.
“You’re walking in the courtyard early in the morning. Does that mean you were in the demon king’s room?”
“I couldn’t sleep last night, so I visited Nox’s room.”
Alan’s brow furrowed as I replied with a smile. I knew he didn’t approve of my close relationship with Nox.
“Stop it.”
“What?”
I tilted my head, sensing a tinge of pity in Alan’s orange eyes. His usual stern expression had turned melancholic. I took a step closer, wanting to know why he looked at me that way.
“Stop loving the demon king.”
“That’s impossible.”
Why would he say that?
