Ye Ping quickly brought the soup back, and Yi Bai moved his butt back, puffed out his chest, and grinned ear to ear, looking as though he shared a little secret with Zeng Yu.

He also had the appearance of wanting to share but not wanting to share, for example, mysteriously asking Ye Ping, “Sister, do you know who gave me my name?”

Ye Ping was puzzled. Wasn’t it your family?

Yi Bai shook his head, glancing at Zeng Yu. The moment before, he was eager to spill the beans, but the next moment, he quickly covered his mouth and mumbled, “Can’t say, can’t say, this is a secret between me and Xiao Yu!”

    Zeng Yu, “……”

Although Zeng Yu wasn’t sure if this person was really an angel, he could confirm that this person really had something wrong with his mind.

After dinner, Zeng Yu returned to his room, and Yi Bai naturally followed.

Zeng Yu didn’t stop him and pointed at the pile of bananas, saying, “I don’t need them, you take them back.”

Yi Bai quickly peeled the banana and held it up to Zeng Yu’s mouth. Upon hearing that, he paused and said, “You don’t want to eat now? Alright then…”

He carefully wrapped the banana peel back, instantly looking as good as new.

Zeng Yu was a little surprised by this scene but quickly got used to it.

With a calm expression, he issued the guest order, “I don’t care who you are, please…”

Xiao Yu, you haven’t accepted these yet!” Yi Bai waggled the plastic bag with his finger.

“……” Zeng Yu was speechless, staring into the harmless blue eyes of the other person, strangely reminded of the kind of naive dog-like feeling he got from those weird internet memes.

    Selective deafness, huh?

Yi Bai opened the bag to show him the things he thought were useful. “Just take them, it’s a little cold outside now that it’s dark, I don’t want you to go begging. That would be too pitiful!”

Zeng Yu leaned against the wall, looking at the pile of junk, utterly confused. “What are these for?”

“They’re all very useful!” Yi Bai lifted two “game coins,” and upon closer inspection, Zeng Yu saw that one had an angel silhouette engraved on it, with wings and a halo, the edges emitting a faint golden light.

“This is the money I had left after buying the bananas. Don’t let the small size fool you, if exchanged for human currency, it’s worth 200 bucks!”

Yi Bai placed both coins in Zeng Yu’s palm, grinning foolishly. “My daily wage is one coin, just enough for food and lodging for a day. But you have a place to stay, so if you just need food, you can go for three days without begging!”

Zeng Yu looked at the angel coins in his palm. If what he said was true, didn’t this mean these were all of his remaining savings?

He was about to return them, but Yi Bai stuffed a ginkgo leaf into his hand. “This is the first yellow leaf that fell from the oldest ginkgo tree beneath our dormitory building. It fell in early autumn. I caught it, and it will boost your bad luck abilities!”

    Zeng Yu, “……?”

Yi Bai, completely unaware that what he was saying wasn’t endearing to humans, picked up three oddly shaped small stones and started introducing them.

“These three, I saw them outside the angel supermarket after I bought the deceptive bananas. I immediately recognized them—they look just like those three scam salespeople! Hmph, I’m giving you these three stones. Remember, don’t be fooled again!”

Zeng Yu was silent, bewildered. How on earth did he think these stones look like people? They had no nose, no eyes.

“Also this,” Yi Bai handed over a long white feather, his cheeks turning red. “This… this is the first feather I lost from my wings. It doesn’t have much use except for writing, but every time I see it, I get really happy because it proves that my wings are mature!”

He beamed with pride as he handed the feather to Zeng Yu. “Now it’s yours, I hope it makes you happy!”

Zeng Yu glanced at him but said nothing. His hands were full of things he could barely hold, yet he hadn’t found the right moment to interrupt and return them.

Yi Bai was just too talkative. After handing over the feather, he immediately asked, “Xiao Yu, are you happy now?”

    Zeng Yu, “……”

Yi Bai eagerly picked up the banana and peeled it again. “Alright, I knew it, you only get happy when you eat a delicious banana. Do you want to eat now? It’s really tasty!”

Zeng Yu, feeling a bit exhausted, pushed his hand away. “I don’t want to.”

Yi Bai sighed regretfully, restoring the banana to its original form.

Then, with a silly grin on his face and an excited gleam in his eyes, he handed over a small notebook the size of a palm. “This is my diary!”

Like the angel coin, the notebook had an angel silhouette on the cover, with the owner’s number “D100” printed on the bottom right. Apart from that, it was no different from an ordinary notebook.

Zeng Yu had no desire to investigate, especially since it was such a personal item.

But clearly, Yi Bai didn’t think it was personal. Despite his slight shyness, he was still in an enthusiastic, open mood, eagerly flipping open the book to show Zeng Yu.

“Take a look, this way you can get to know me better!”

Zeng Yu didn’t want to look, but couldn’t stop the other person from forcing the book closer to his face, the wild handwriting almost touching his skin.

[Today I learned how to infiltrate human society: when speaking, I should vary my tone, express emotions richly, and add sentence-ending particles like ‘oh’, ‘ne’, ‘ma’, and ‘ya’, to appear harmless and approachable…]

[Today I learned how to build relationships with humans: one must be honest and trustworthy, be open with others, initiate communication, and care for humans…]

[Today I learned how to pursue humans: act pitiful, pretend to be innocent, keep my big blue eyes wide open, and look as though I have no ulterior motives, so that soft-hearted humans will pick me up and take me home…]

    Zeng Yu, “…”

Is it really okay to let this human see all this?

Zeng Yu felt helpless. Just as he was about to close the diary, Yi Bai flipped to the next page—

[Today, when I went out to play, I saw a very handsome human. I feel like I’ve seen him somewhere before. I know it’s love at first sight! I’ve heard humans like the type of love that’s almost like a home invasion. Hmm, I’m going to start planning now…]

Zeng Yu didn’t need to read further. He remembered that day—while drinking on the rooftop, a handsome, blond, blue-eyed guy suddenly rushed towards him, practically diving into his arms.

    “…”

Zeng Yu was a bit more forceful this time. He pressed the diary down and pushed Yi Bai away. His voice was calm, without any emotion, sounding somewhat detached. “Why would I need to know about you?”

Yi Bai’s smile froze. He tilted his head, processing the words for a moment, before his eyebrows, eyes, and mouth slowly drooped. “Because I… I like you. I want to be with you…”

His golden hair seemed to lose its luster, and the curls weren’t as lively anymore.

Zeng Yu sighed softly, rejecting him. “Sorry.”

Yi Bai returned to the dorm looking disheveled.

The halo was fully charged, and his large wings hung by the bed. The feathers at the tail end touched the floor and got a little dusty. He went to the balcony to grab a towel and wipe them.

The tail feathers were special and quite sensitive. He remembered the time when he had brushed Zeng Yu’s face in the stairwell…

Yi Bai’s face turned red, and he suddenly became very determined, pulling the towel and wiping his wings thoroughly, inside and out, until they were spotless.

Afterward, he remembered Zeng Yu’s rejection, and slumped to the ground, feeling defeated.

His roommate D99 walked in and saw him sulking in the corner, drawing circles. With a quick thought, D99 mischievously asked, “D100, heartbroken?”

Yi Bai stiffened his face, moved in another direction, and raised his chin defiantly. “I have a proper name now. I’m Yi Bai, Yi as in easy, Bai as in cypress tree, Yi Bai!”

D99 nodded, “D100 Yi Bai, your human is really dismissive…”

“Don’t talk about Xiao Yu like that!” Yi Bai glared angrily, jumped up, and grabbed D99’s wings, tugging hard.

In an instant, two feathers were ripped out. D99 retaliated by pulling Yi Bai’s head full of golden hair. “I told you! He’s dismissive, definitely dismissive!”

Neither side backed down. They tugged at each other, flying everywhere, with feathers and hair scattering all around.

The noise was loud enough to draw attention from the neighboring dorms, but no one stepped in to stop them. Until a divine voice suddenly echoed in their ears.

    “D99, D100, stop…”

The voice was low, tinged with exhaustion and helplessness, as though it was used to such scenes.

Only then did the two angels stop, glaring at each other, silent as they waited for the announcement from the God of Misfortune, who was broadcasting a notification about the meeting.

After hearing the broadcast, the two angels stood up, dusted off their clothes, and stopped pulling each other’s feathers. With a hum, they turned and went to change into their uniforms.

D98, leaning against the door with lingering excitement, said, “Why’d you stop? I wanted to collect some feathers to patch my pillow.”

Yi Bai and D99, now in their shirts and pants, wings and halos on, walked out, both rolling their eyes in unison. “Go away.”

D98 laughed as he hugged their wings and headed off to the meeting.

The Heavenly Kingdom was a towering building hidden in the clouds, where the gods who managed earthly matters lived and worked.

On the 43rd floor, thirty apprentice angels from D71 to D100 arrived one by one.

D87 was chasing D88, D76 was handing out snacks, D81 was eating with greasy lips, and D90 had dyed his wing feathers black, drawing attention and causing exclamations all around…

The scene was chaotic. D98 patted his two companions and said, “Compared to them, you two are much more mature.”

The God of Misfortune never showed up in person. As usual, one by one, they called out names and offered advice until everyone was settled, before starting the meeting with an air of deep frustration.

This meeting was about reassigning positions. Yi Bai sat on a small stool, listening carefully and jotting down his new assignment in his diary.

After writing each stroke, he suddenly realized—it was the very street where Zeng Yu lived!

D98 and D99 leaned over to look. Coincidentally, all three of them were assigned to the same place.

Nice, nice! They could hang out together again.

Yi Bai and D99 shared a smile, leaving their previous squabbles behind. The other angels seemed satisfied and stopped causing trouble.

No one noticed, but the God of Misfortune wiped the imaginary sweat from his forehead and let out a long sigh of relief.
