LFB Chapter 7
by KiiThe lotus root and pork rib soup base, which was golden in color and rich in aroma, bubbled vigorously. Ning Gui ladled himself a bowl of soup and picked up a bite of a braised dish in front of him.
Shang Zhao said he wanted to eat something light, but when he was reading the menu, he still remembered to order a spicy stew for him. Ning Gui suppressed a smile that appeared at the corner of his lips and spread to his eyes. His eyebrows were slightly curved, and anyone could see that he was in a good mood.
Shang Zhao stared for a moment, slightly dazed then bowed his head to sip the soup.
But his ears, which were exposed in Ning Gui’s view, instantly turned red.
Ning Gui looked at it and found it somewhat amusing.
Before knowing Shang Zhao, his impression of Shang Zhao was that he was a tall guy in the school basketball team, loved to smile, seemed to be very popular, and was the person Jiang Xi liked.
After getting to know him, Shang Zhao changed from a general impression to a vivid person. Shang Zhao was sincere and passionate, and pursued the same sex openly and directly, but he was also very sensible—he kept a respectful distance when arranging to meet or eat. He also friends about his preferences, but didn’t allow them to make any jokes in front of him, outright rejecting any attempts at matchmaking.
Although this person was sometimes stubborn and earnest to the point of being a bit silly, but…his gentleness in the details was really very touching.
After eating, Shang Zhao went to pay for the bill.
Ning Gui followed behind him, and after hearing the cashier report the number, he transferred half of the money to Shang Zhao as usual.
Even if they were dating, there was no reason to spend only the other person’s money. Moreover, he still hadn’t agreed to Shang Zhao’s pursuit, so they split the bill when they ate together.
Shang Zhao had just paid the bill when a WeChat money transfer notification popped up on his phone. He reluctantly clicked accept, then asked, “Would you like milk tea?”
“I do.” Ning Gui slightly curled his eyes and smiled. After leaving the restaurant, they walked towards the milk tea shop they usually went to.
The milk tea shop was bustling in the afternoon. Ning Gui immediately spotted Li Xianxian, the girl with curly hair and a smile that showed her teeth, in the crowd.
Li Xianxian was originally joking with her friends, when she looked up and noticed him, she curved her eyes and waved.
“Ning Gui.”
When Shang Zhao saw Li Xianxian, he remembered when he mistaken Ning Gui for a girl and rashly asked her about him, and felt a little embarrassed.
“Li Xianxian.” Ning Gui walked over, saw the order ticket in her hand, and raised a brow. “Who was it that said they’ll quit drinking milk tea two days ago?”
“Quitting milk tea is a process.” Li Xianxian said rather confidently.
Her gaze fell on Shang Zhao who was standing beside Ning Gui. She smiled at Shang Zhao, he nodded and smiled in return, which counted as a greeting.
Li Xianxian whispered to Ning Gui, “I heard Jiang Xi came to pick a fight with you as soon as she returned to school today.”
Ning Gui let out a “Mhm.”
“Are you alright?” Everyone was on the same cheerleading team, so Li Xianxian knew Jiang Xi’s temper really well.
Ning Gui answered, “I’m fine.”
Li Xianxian blinked her eyes, wanting to say more, but stopped when he saw Shang Zhao.
Once Ning Gui brought the milk tea to the dorm and took out his phone, he saw Li Xianxian’s text messages.
“I even heard Shang Zhao rushed over to play hero.”
“So what’s really going on between you two?”
“Are you guys together now or is it still under consideration? Everyone is curious.”
Ning Gui drank a sip of milk tea, and the cold sweetness went down his throat and spread all the way to his heart.
He smiled, then replied—
“Soon.”
